7 signs your website is losing you business
Seven things you can check today, with no technical knowledge, and what each one is costing you.

In short
- If a visitor cannot say what you sell within five seconds, they are gone.
- Hidden phone numbers and email addresses cost you more business than anything else.
- A two year old year in the footer tells people the company may have shut down.
- Broken forms are more common than people think. Test yours today.
- A site that looks bad on a phone loses the majority of its visitors immediately.
A website rarely loses business loudly. People just leave, and you never hear about it. Here are seven signs you can check for yourself today.
1. It fails the five second test
Show the front page to someone who does not know the company, count five seconds, then close the laptop. Ask them what the business does. If the answer is fuzzy, the top of your page is wrong.
2. It takes more than three seconds to load on a phone
Test on your own phone outdoors on 4G, not on your home network with everything cached. Every second costs you a share of your visitors.
3. Contact details are hidden
Your phone number and email should be visible without scrolling, and tappable links on a phone. People who have to hunt for how to get in touch often do not bother.
4. The year in the footer is old
This sounds trivial, but it is the clearest signal a visitor reads about whether anyone is at the wheel. The same goes for a news section where the last post is from 2023.
5. The form does not work
Send yourself an enquiry through your own form right now. Did it arrive? Did it land in spam? How long did it take? Broken forms are more common than people believe and the failure is completely silent.
6. The phone shows a different website
More than seventy percent of visitors arrive on a phone. If the text is tiny, the buttons are crowded together or you have to pinch to read, then most of your visitors are getting a worse version of your company.
7. There is no next step
Every page should end with one clear action: get in touch, book a time, request a quote, see prices. A page that ends in nothing delivers nothing.
What this actually costs
Say you get five hundred visits a month and two percent get in touch. That is ten enquiries. If three of these seven items are broken and fixing them doubles the rate to four percent, that is ten extra enquiries every month without a single krona going into advertising.
